Setting Hope Free and Bringing Joy to Life!

Palm Trees at Christmas??

I am very excited for the up coming Christmas season.  The biggest reason for my excitement is because my girls and I are trekking down to Fort Myers, FL to spend Christmas with my dad and his family and my sister and her family!  We are all so excited!  The girls and I will make the long drive and then spend their entire Christmas break hanging out with family, basking in the sun, and relaxing.

I had told myself at the beginning of this year that I wanted to start traveling more because it is something that truly brings me joy.  Once I made that promise to myself the realization of lifes circumstances…work schedule, not enough money, my girl’s school schedule…and so on fell heavy on me.  I allowed things like that to rob me of many fun times and great memories!

Please don’t mistake this as a New Year’s Resolution due to the time of year it is.  I just happen to be reflecting on the amounts of time I actually did any traveling this year.  After this upcoming trip to Florida it will be twice that I’ve vacationed.  Not bad…but not awesome.  I want to be planning my next trip once I return from whatever trip I happen to be on at that time.  I realize this will take some creativity as far as working and finances are concerned but I don’t feel like it’s impossible!

What would be even better is if I could find a job where I’m paid to travel.  A job that I love, paying me to do what I love…I’ll take it!!  Until then I will just have to make plans and save accordingly.  Even if I have to go by myself I still want to do it. That is another excuse I use.  Vacationing alone would not be the end of the world, it might even be fun…I won’t know unless I tried it. 🙂

For now, the girl’s and I are just going to enjoy the road trip down to Florida and have a blast for the week that we’re there!  Merry Christmas!!!!

Where To Next??

My parents used to take my siblings and I on a vacation every year.  We mostly went to Florida for Spring break and sometimes we might take a trip somewhere else during the Summer.  I always enjoyed these trips and looked forward to them every year.  I loved packing and then repacking my suitcase a billion times before the actual travel day came.  I mostly loved that we were  all together as a family for the entire duration of the trip.  My dad didn’t have to leave for work every day and my mom didn’t have to worry about keeping the house clean and all of the other things that would occupy her day.  It was just all of us together making plans each day of where we were going to eat and what we were going to do.

My own love of travel began while experiencing all of those awesome trips and creating memories with my family.  I love road trips, flying, cruises, any means of travel really.  Even though I can get pretty motion sick sometimes, I still love it!  I love finding cool things to do in new places and exploring what each place has to offer.  My dad was really good at just driving and getting us lost while we were on trips.  We would find really new things to do and we also found great places to eat.  One time we even found ourselves driving on the side of a mountain in Hawaii!!

I have made a vow to myself that I will begin to make traveling more of a priority in my life.  I am turning 40 this coming May and I want my 40’s to be saturated in fun travel plans.  I have made lots of excuses for why I haven’t traveled much in the past few years…not enough money and not wanting to go alone, to name a couple.  Those are only excuses though.  I can save money to go and what is wrong with going someplace alone??  Sure, I would definitely rather go on a trip WITH somebody, but if nobody can go why should I keep missing out?  It is for this reason that I have added the travel tab in my blog.  I want to be able to share my adventures with you, big or small, and keep you up to date on what travel plans I have coming up next!  Stay tuned for my first adventure!!
